The GritLine Story: Built by Experience, Driven by Purpose
The creation of GritLine Football is rooted in a fundamental belief: every lineman deserves a genuine, specialized understanding of the game.
Born in Philadelphia and raised in Lansdale, PA, my own football journey was forged in the highly competitive environment of North Penn High School. I was privileged to learn under two legendary coaches:
- Mike Pettine Jr., who is currently the Assistant Head Coach and Outside Linebackers Coach for the Minnesota Vikings. Coach Pettine’s extensive NFL career also includes serving as Head Coach of the Cleveland Browns (2014-2015) and as Defensive Coordinator for the Bills, Jets, and Packers.
I carried this foundation to King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, PA, where I was a four-year starter, playing on the defensive side of the ball at both Defensive Tackle (DT) and Defensive End (DE). Lead by Head Coach Richard Mannello.
Coaching the Trenches
My extensive coaching career reflects a deep commitment to both sides of the line, fueling my ability to teach the game from multiple perspectives:
- Began with an internship at Albright College as Linebackers and Safeties Coach.
- After a ten-year hiatus, I returned to coach at Hatboro Horsham High School, serving as both Defensive Coordinator and the OL/DL Coach for three years.
- Seven successful seasons as the OL and DL Coach at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.
- Most recently, I served as the Defensive Coordinator at North Penn High School in 2023.
- For over seven years, I have also worked with athletes in specialized camps throughout Southeast PA
The GritLine Philosophy
GritLine Football was founded because I saw a major gap: while skill positions benefit from backyard play, the techniques and concepts of line play are often treated like a “foreign language,” leaving young athletes lost and unprepared.
My mission is to bridge that gap. I don’t just teach technique; I break down complex concepts and terminology in multiple ways, ensuring players understand the why behind every assignment.
Furthermore, GritLine emphasizes the Championship Mindset. True success requires finding your purpose and relentlessly channeling that drive to ensure no stone is left unturned in your preparation. We discuss the critical role of intense conditioning, disciplined effort in the weight room, diligent film study, and mental visualization of success.
GritLine provides middle school athletes and up with the fundamental knowledge and mental discipline necessary to master the trenches and truly grasp the entire game of football.
